Absolutely incredible staff from the moment of arrival to the moment of departure. In particular, Yuuta was so helpful, attentive, and downright elegant.
An EXCEPTIONAL breakfast and dinner were included with our room, prepared as Japanese interpretation of multi-course French cuisine. The view from the dining area was stunning. Absolutely wonderful.
I believe all rooms include a private outdoor onsen (hot spring bath) where you can soak for hours while enjoying nature.

It’s a beautiful spot to visit. I recommend 2-3 days to really experience and explore. I got the Hakone free pass and made my way around the loop over 2 days and the scenery was breathtaking, an extra day would have allowed deeper relaxation and extra exploring.
Definitely explore the shrines around the lake and try and get to an Onsen while you are there. I did find it tricky to find tattoo cover patches, so possibly worth looking into before travelling to Hakone if you need to cover up.

Beautiful nature and atmosphere.
Beautiful nature and atmosphere. The trip to Lake Ashimoto was lovely and the scenery impressive. The highlight of our stay in Hakone was dipping in the local onsens, we loved the experience and the feeling of relaxation after a bath. We ate at different local restaurants, mostly found via map apps, which made great food at reasonable prices. We used the Hakone Pass to get around using trains, cable cars and the ropeway, all very convenient and easy to use. We could have used a couple extra days to visit some of the attractions in the area, that we did not have enough time to enjoy.

Very good city if you wanna walk around and relax in a very calm city. Also good if you like trekking. Although, it is not so easy to transfer around different spots in the city, and the transportation is a little bit expensive.

One of the highlights of our trip to Japan was visiting Hakone. We would wholeheartedly recommend staying in Gora and doing the loop up to the mountain and then on the sightseeing boat. The Hakone Free-Pass offers great value for money.

The hakone free pass is excellent and a must for all visitors. There is an abundance of sites and tourist offerings about the area. We did the railways the open air museum the boat and ropeway and achieved all of this within about 24 hours. It is a beautiful destination and a must from the hustle and bustle of the city life
Amazing service and the location next to the ropeway allows for easy transportation around hakone and access to lake ashinoko. Much better than traveling around by bus which can get stuck in traffic. Meals and service were top notch and the private Onsens were fantastic. They have several you can reserve which direct views of the forest. We reserved the rooftop Onsen with panoramic views of the mountain valley and it was unforgettable. We also had a private Onsen on the deck of our room which was wonderful to wake up and soak in.
We loved everything about Fujiya hotel. first was the friendly, kind and amazing staff who made sure we were well taken care of and went out of their way. Also our massage at the spa was incredible. The message therapist were out of this world. in addition the Onsen was peaceful, clean and it was our first time in an onsen. Now we are hooked. Finally the Japanese breakfast was delicious and the hotel itself is super clean and incredibly beautiful. I look forward too returning to Fujiya Hotel and staying longer.
This ryokan is so elegant and inviting. Our room was amazing with an incredible view. The private onsen in our room was so relaxing and just delightful. One of the nicest hotel showers ever! The kaiseki dinner was beautiful, and even though Japanese breakfast isn't to my taste, the presentation itself was lovely. It was such a great one night splurge, so relaxing and rejuvenating. The shuttle service was great and made travel to and from Hakone-Yumoto a breeze.
One of the best locations you can stay if visiting Hakone as it's right beside the cable car to get you up the mountain. The Yunessun Onsen complex free shuttle bus also goes from directly across the road(great for kids and adults who want to try a non nude Onsen)Hotel is modern and minimalist in design. Good restaurant on site, breakfast is satisfying. Staff friendly and helpful. Room was expensive relative to the rest of Japan but good value for Hakone.
Great value for money considering that you have access to the onsen at the main building, which is excellent. The public open air bath has a lovely view and on both occasions that I used it, I was the only person hence it felt like a private bath.
The room is small but it works well for a solo traveller.
Hotel is very close to the Yumoto station, just less than 5 minutes away. The staff are all very helpful and fluent in English.
A beautiful traditional Japanese Hotel. The room was very clean and had a beautiful view of the Valley. The hotel onsen was very relaxing and not crowded at all. It was also very well equipped with soaps and lotions for a pampering afterwards :)
The staff was super friendly.
The hotel is easy to to reach by bus (from Odawara Shinkansen station) or by train. Lake Ashi is just a 20min bus ride away from the hotel.
The ryokan inspired rooms was beautifully designed. Felt so warm, cozy yet modern at the same time. Shower was immaculate, king-size bed was unbelievably comfortable. Honestly wanted to stay in the room the whole day!! There is also a sushi restaurant within the hotel — must book in advance though, and slightly pricey. The location is also unbeatable, about a 6 minute walk from the Hakone-Yumoto station.
The views from the rooms were sensational and the grounds provided a lovely place to relax - the welcome drink on arrival in the afternoon was a lovely touch. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the rooms comfortable and spacious, and we enjoyed the on-site onsen. There are lots of local activities - we really enjoyed the ships across Lake Ashi and also a day at the Hakone Open Air Museum.
The Mikawaya Ryokan is a well-preserved historic hot spring inn located in a central part of the mountainous Hakone region. The Tozan bus stops right in front, making it easy to hop on with the tourist-friendly Odakyu Freepass. The onsen baths are well-kept and are soothing. The meals are exceptional. The ryokan staff speak good English and are very hospitable.
Everything was perfect: staff were very kind and helpful; the onsen was incredible; the ambiance of the hotel was beautiful; proximity to public transportation and restaurants was ideal; access to nature was easy and offered some gorgeous hikes. I recommend this location wholeheartedly to anyone exploring the Hakone region. It was just perfect.
Pretty awesome onsen experience. Very good price for hotels with private onsen and no need to worry about your privacy. The room is large and comfortable. The traditional breakfast is also a must-try. All the staff are really nice and helpful. The location is also great with restaurants and museums nearby.
Location and cleaness especially the onsen, comfort bed. Took the #3 bus from Hakone-Yumoto station, Stop 235 and walk up within 5 minutes. Appreciated the hotel sent in advance for the instruction where to take the bus.
Highly recommended, Next time travel to Hakone, this hotel will be my first choice.
Very large, impersonal hotel, probably an old 60/70's convention centre, not a lot of charm - but set on Lake Ashi and on a good day you could get a view of Mt Fuji. Comfortable beds, big rooms. Stayed here cause we had to check out of another hotel that was dreadful Gran Terrace La Lien (Hakone)
Everything was great, we had an inroom onsen it was fantastic and so was the personnel.
The facilities were very clean and convenient.
The japanese breakfast was also amazing
Also It's right next to the Hakone Yomoto train station.
I recommend to stay in this hotel when visiting Hakone!
The hotel is located close to the Hakone Yumoto station. This means it is easy to reach and you can explore the rest of the Hakone area via train.
The public bath/onsen in the hotel is great.
I tried the Chinese restaurant in the hotel and the food was great.
Good location, right next to Togendai Station. Hotel design was beautiful, with superb public and private onsen. Guests have a great view of Lake Ashi. Breakfast and dinner buffet was very enjoyable, although the food menu is the same for everyday.
The hotel was very clean. The onsen was well maintained. The staff was friendly and prompt. The location is perfect. It's as close to the Hakone Yumoto station as you can be.
